We don’t need any more reasons to prove how disastrous and inhumane poaching is, but the latest result of a rhino-killing has left a baby rhino being unable to sleep after he had to watch his mother being killed for her horn.
The three-month-old rhino, now named Gertjie, was found “crying uncontrollably” next to his mother’s body, and has been traumatised by the event to the extent that the staff of the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre have to keep him company at all times.
The atrocities of rhino-poaching extend far beyond a simple killing, as it affects everything in that rhino’s immediate and associated eco-system, as seen with the case with Gertjie.
It’s definitely a cause that everyone can get behind, and there are things that can be done to help with wildlife conservation in South Africa.
The new GOOD VIBES charity bracelet channels money three ways, including the Wildlife ACT fund, which runs critical endangered and priority conservation projects in Africa, for animals including rhino and elephant.
The bracelet is pretty cool and shows your support for three important causes.
