The 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil is upon us, but if you can’t make it all the way across to South America, there are some other ways you can cash in on the celebratory spirit and tropical fiesta of football.
Because let’s be honest, as alluring as going to the World Cup is, it’s no cheap trip. Between the tickets, airfares, travel money and gees-expenditure, you’re looking at tens-of-thousands of Rands.
Instead, you could get the anticipation for the tournament going by holding your very own sweepstakes with some mates: everyone picks a World Cup team at random, and that is your team for the tournament. Everyone contributes some money into the kitty, and sets up the winnings so that if your team makes it to the playoffs, you get your buy-in money back, but if you make it to the final, you win big.
That will undoubtedly generate some serious gees.
However, if you’re looking for a quick-fix too, there’s a way to embrace the nostalgia and flair of the World Cup.
Old-school is the new new-school, and seeing how fashion trends are hitting that cyclical stage once again, Puma is dropping two new editions of their shoe line: The OGs ‘93 and Blaze of Glory OGs.
The Blaze of Glory edition was first released back in the early 1990s, so think back to when Brazil won the World Cup for the fourth time when the US hosted the event. Classic.
Puma also brings back the original OG form for 2014 with the release of the appropriately-dubbed OG ‘93. Complete with the look and build of the original 1993 version of the runner.
Winter may be taking its toll on those foot-dungeons you call shoes, so maybe it’s time to spruce up your kicks for the coming season.
