So if you have been in isolation and have yet to hear about the Casual Sex Project, sit down and let us get you clued up.
This online forum was started as a space to have open conversations about the casual sex culture that is so rife and yet quite taboo in our global society.
A new website aims to debunk the negative connotations of hook-up culture and show that casual sex is not always such a bad thing.
Launched by sex researcher and NYU instructor Zhana Vrangalova, The Casual Sex Project provides an outlet for people to anonymously talk about their sexual encounters and one-night stands, revealing that they are not necessarily a cause for shame or regret.
Naturally, spreading the idea that sex can be casual and for fun has caused HUGE uproar with the more conservative sectors of society (as represented by various media outlets) but it has definitely had the desired effect of getting people talking about casual sex.
The unique and eye-opening aspect of The Casual Sex Project is that it shows how random hook-ups are not just for college students, but for people of all ages who wish to explore their sexuality.
What the majority of the shared stories have revealed is that hook-ups are very often part of a person’s self-growth and discovery and really, sex is such a huge part of daily culture it would be naive to try and avoid having these kinds of conversations, don’t you think?
