You can all play easy, kids – Scrappy the dog has been put down. If you aren’t sure who Scrappy is, watch the video here.

Now that we are all on the same page: Scrappy’s attack does seem pretty out of the blue and it was confirmed by an animal shelter that he was generally a very aggressive dog. Although the family thought they would be able to rehabilitate him, it proved too much and Scrappy’s attack on this child proved to be the final nail in his coffin. Thankfully, the child is stitched up and fine.

While it has to be conceded that dogs are animals and have certain natural instincts, for a pet to randomly attack a little boy like this is likely to be down to some tyrannous previous owner who raised the poor beast this way.
