Well this is interesting. Ben Trovato, one of our country’s most celebrated satirists and utterly hilarious writer of ‘The Whipping Boy’ column in the Times, has outed himself!
What makes Ben an enigma is his identity. Or rather the lack thereof. His real name isn’t really Ben Trovato, and whats more, he’s never shown his face to the world. He seems to be in that category of writer who would rather let his writing – and not his face – speak for itself.
As part of a PR stunt to generate interest for his first book, the publisher enlisted students to stomp around Cape Town donning sandwich boards which read: ‘ Who Is Ben Trovato? ‘
It looks like that question has finally been answered.
Pan Macmillan has just released Ben’s latest book which reads as a biographical account of this man’s unorthodox life. Its’s titled, ‘Incognito: The Memoirs of Ben Trovato,’ and it promises to deliver a lengthly dose of the hilarity which has made this writer such a legend in our country.
Enjoy this excerpt from Incognito to experience a sneak-peak into the pages of the book which outs Mr.Trovato. If you’ve ever read any of his stuff, you’ll not want to miss this.
