Judging by the writeups in City Press and others (with no links to the video), the mob-lunching of a woman will not be investigated because the footage might be “a bit old.” I’m sorry, I don’t quite follow..
The excerpt from CityPress goes like this:
A video of a woman being attacked by people wearing ANC T-shirts might not be recent, the SA Police Service said.
“We have seen the video, it looks a bit old,” spokesperson Lieutenant-General Solomon Makgale told Sapa today.
“It does not seem to have happened recently.”

Haha – so you’re saying that because you think the video is ‘old’ then it’s not worth investigating? There are people being arrested and sent to jail for molesting kids DECADES ago, and they don’t even have video footage. There are nazis in America sent to jail for ancient crimes – again, with no footage.
Oscar Pistorius is on trial for killing someone – over a year ago. Surely, by these above statements, THAT is too old?
A comment under our posting of the video says the following:
Uhm, yeah, so this is definitely a tad old. The ANC shirts refer to “Together we can do more” or some such. Their slogan this year was “Good story to tell”. Also, this is fimed in a rural place or village. My experience of the village in RSA is that women don’t wear pants… let alone shorts. So this is more likely a dreadlocked man. Not a woman. Perhaps as disappointing as the crime, is the reaction of the people on these forums. The fact that someone wearing an ANC t-shirt participated in the lynching doesn’t mean this espouses the values of the party. Also, the person dying or dead isn’t necessarily a Cope supporter. My mother in law collected the T-shirts of EVERY SINGLE party handing them out for free, and then proceeded to vote for the KISS party.
Fudzy your reasoning gives me hope though. Recognising this for the incitement that it is, let’s me know that the planet is still inhabited by rational people.
A beautiful 14 year old light eyed black American kid named Emmett Till looked like this poor soul when a Mississippi mob was done with him for… (does it matter??)
The point is that it shouldn’t matter what the person did. Death by lynching is most cruel, ineffective, slow and torturous. It has no place in civilised society.
Sigh.
Wrong – the slogan you are referring to WAS in fact used this last election – see references below:
Again, not that it makes a difference if it was this election or last election.
Why can this video not be found on the internet other than from recent days?
Why is this incident being hushed up?
Why is it not being investigated?
We have contacted 5 different “mainstream” local national news publications and NONE have run with this story. Except to quote the SAPS that the video is “old.”
Dearie me..
