Judge Masipa has ruled that Oscar is to undergo psychiatric evaluation in order to ascertain whether he has a mental illness or “defect.” Should he be found to have a mental illness and it is ruled that he is not fit to stand trial or that this is what affected his judgement at the time of the killing it could lead to him being admitted as a state patient to a state mental institution – possibly for life! We will have to wait as much as 30 days before we hear what the verdict is but this could mean the end of the trial and the end of his career. Wow! What a sudden and serious turn of events.
