Before the trail started, Reeva’s family spoke words of forgiveness when pressed about their stance on Oscar Pistorius. While June Steenkamp stoically attends the trial, the rest of the family back in Port Elizabeth are far less composed. Over the weekend, Reeva’s sister told the media in an interview that she thinks Oscar is lying on the stand.

Simone Steenkamp was at her mother’s side at the start of the trial, but has since stayed home to take care of and comfort her father Barry in Port Elizabeth. As the trial has progressed, Simone and her family’s opinion of Oscar Pistorius has changed drastically.

He is trying to convince the court that they were really close and that he cared for her. It’s not true. He is a disgusting liar,” said Reeva’s sister Simone.

I believe that she was screaming and that he knew it was her he was shooting. I believe they were arguing and that he is an insecure, unpredictable man who might have been thinking he couldn’t live without her if the row ended badly. So he picked up his gun and shot her in a fit of rage, and now he is lying his head off in the witness box, saying that Reeva didn’t scream to let him know she was behind the toilet door,” she continued.
