Science is a like a bipolar person with ADD: one moment we’re contemplating the cosmos, and the next thing we’re growing vaginas in a lab. Are you ready? Four women have had lab-grown vaginas implanted by doctors in the US.

These four women suffered from a condition known as vaginal aplasia – where their vaginas didn’t form properly during development in the womb. Using a biodegradable scaffold and sample tissue, doctors at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Centre in North Carolina grew vaginas in bioreactors for each of the patients.

The patients reported that their new vaginas were fine during intercourse and said they experienced normal levels of “desire, arousal, lubrication, orgasm, satisfaction.”
