To have a successful business it is vital to motivate your staff. Motivation is more important to a company’s success than employees’ intelligence, ability or salary. Here are four ways to motivate your kids, employees or spouse.
1. Stop Bribing Them
Rewards just motivate people to obtained the rewards, once they received reward, they stop. For complex tasks people are motivated by the need for autonomy, mastery and purpose.
2. Make Them Feel Something
Emotions and feelings motivate people. It’s hard for a person to resist doing something for which they have feelings towards.
3. Emphasise Progress
A study done by Harvard showed that progress is the single most powerful factor to influence a person’s inner work life, positively.
4. Form A Cult (Well, Almost)
Studies found that long-lasting companies displayed a “cult-like culture” (i.e. shared story or shared belief), which creates unity and boosts morale.
