No jokes. A nine-month-old infant has been charged with attempted murder in a court in the city of Lahore, Pakistan, last week. The child is in hiding after appearing in court facing murder charges with the rest of his family. His case has focused the spotlight on Pakistan’s dysfunctional justice system.
Baby Musa Khan, along with other family members, have been charged with attempted murder, after a mob stoned police and gas company workers who were trying to collect overdue bills. The toddler and the rest of the family were charged with the crime, after an assistant sub-inspector said that all of Musa’s family had beaten him up.
Police are vindictive. Now they are trying to settle the issue on personal grounds, that’s why I sent my grandson to Faisalabad for protection,” said Muhammad Yasin, the baby’s grandfather.
He does not even know how to pick up his milk bottle properly, how can he stone the police?” Yasin told journalists.
Musa’s grandfather said that the child is in hiding at the moment and he doubts that he will take him to court for the next hearing.
