It’s a scary world out there, and if you have your eyes glued on your phone the whole time, you may butt heads with immovable objects frequently. In an effort to stop you from walking face first into a tree, a lamppost or fellow pedestrian while texting, Apple have filed a patent for ‘Transparent Texting.’
Using your phone’s rear mounted camera to display live footage as the background to Apple’s own messenger app, Apple will essentially create a see-through window on your screen. The idea is nothing new under the sun, with loads of apps already providing this functionality, but it will be the only one to function with the iMessaging app.
Due to the angle at which you hold a phone while texting and walking, we suspect you would be seeing a lot of sidewalks and pavements. You will however be able to dodge dog poo, which is a plus.
