Geeks Rejoice As MS-DOS Source Code Is Revealed For The First Time Ever

Microsoft, in conjunction with the Computer History Museum, are making the source code for MS-DOS 1.1 and version 2.0 available to the public for the first time ever. Alongside the DOS source code, Microsoft is also revealing the source code for Word 1.1a, which was released back in 1989.

Microsoft, in conjunction with the Computer History Museum, are making the source code for MS-DOS 1.1 and version 2.0 available to the public for the first time ever. Alongside the DOS source code, Microsoft is also revealing the source code for Word 1.1a, which was released back in 1989.

Making the source code public, the company aims “to help future generations of technologists better understand the roots of personal computing.” These archaic programs were some of the most influential and popular programs of the time, changing the face of personal computing.
