Belgian newspaper, De Morgen is being slammed for a picture that appeared in their satirical section portraying President Obama and his wife with ape features. Many of its readers are saying that the newspaper went too far, and it’s more of a racist slur than an attempt at satire.

The article in De Morgen forms part of a satirical piece which also jokes about Obama selling weed. It is packaged as an email by Vladimir Putin to the newspaper, with a message reading: “Vladimir Putin is the president of Russia. He sent us this attachment at our request, and chose to send pictures instead of text ‘because he doesn’t have a lot of time’.”
