The “Secure in Comfort” report by the Public Protector is over 400 pages of devastating findings, that will in most likelihood be used as loo paper by the government. The ANC refuses to see it at all. Even if the results end up being benign, as journalist Richard Poplak puts it, Zuma “will be forever remembered as a thief, a fool, and a Zulu man who was incapable of managing the affairs of his kraal.”

Public Protector Thuli Madonsela’s report can be summarized by the graph above, with Zuma’s big middle finger to South Africa. In his article on the matter, Richard Poplak remarks that the report “provided [Zuma’s] enemies with a cudgel, but he doesn’t seem to notice their beatings.”

So what has the report done for the country? Well the DA are going for impeachment, but we can guess where that will end up. The Public Protector stated that Jacob Zuma must pay back a “reasonable”  portion of the costs. But guess who is in charge of putting recommendations from the Public Protector’s office  into effect? None other than president.
