Is the drummer in your band struggling to keep the beat? Well with new developments in prosthetic technology, it might be more efficient to cut of his hand and get one of these bad boys. Check out the three-armed cyborg drummer that may put traditional drummers out of a job.
When one thinks about cyborgs, a dark future of robot sentient overlords comes to mind, not snappy drummers with the ability to improv. The robotic drum prosthesis is developed by Georgia Tech Center for Music Technology. It consists of two drumsticks. One is controlled by the human wearing the attachment using electromyography. The other has a mind of its own. Controlled by a number of algorithms, this drumstick plays autonomously. It listens to the beat being played and then improvises accordingly.
