Pope Francis made his very own confession recently, admitting to stealing a dead priest’s rosary cross from the casket. He pried the rosary from the corpse’s dead hands.
While Pope Francis was arranging flowers around the casket of the clergyman known as “the Great Confessor” of Buenos Aires, the pontiff spotted the rosary. “And immediately there came to mind the thief we all have inside ourselves and while I arranged the flowers I took the cross and with just a bit of force I removed it,” said Pope Francis about his moment of weakness.
And in that moment I looked at him and I said ‘Give me half your mercy,'” he continued.
The pope keeps the rosary in a small pouch on him. He explained that when ever a bad thought comes to mind, his hand reaches for the rosary, and it provides him solace.
