Having a social media profile makes you a vulnerable target for online trolls. In the case of the dating app, Lulu, men are subject to the scrutiny of scorned lovers and exes.
The dating app Lulu allows women to look up former one-night stands, ex-boyfriends, lovers or random strangers’ Facebook accounts and rate the male in question on a scale. The ratings are also coupled with descriptive hastags, like #ObsessedWithHisMom, #SleepsOnTheWetSpot, and #GoneByMorning.
Lulu is marketed as the “Yelp for Men,” but lacks the objectivity that Yelp provides. Recent complaints by men have had the app change its system, allowing men to opt-in to be the subject of scrutiny.
A man successfully sued Lulu in Brazil, leading it to be blocked in that country.
