Vanessa Mae’s music career may have started when she was only 13-years-old, but she’s been skiing since she was 4. The 35-year-old violinist may have sold more than 10 million records in her music career, but that will have no bearing when she competes at the Sochi Winter Olympics on Wednesday.
Mae, after having qualified by the skin of her teeth, will compete in the women’s giant slalom, representing Thailand. She will be the third ever representative from Thailand to compete at the Winter Olympics.
Mae stands little chance of upsetting the top competitors this coming Wednesday – she’s ranked 2253rd in the world.
