Shame on you. Twitter isn’t a place filled with readers, according to a study. If you got here from a link on Twitter, you probably aren’t even reading this.
A company called Chartbeat measures the real-time traffic for websites. Their data shows that most people only spend a couple of seconds on a page before tweeting it out. Measuring variables such as time spent on a page and how far they scrolled down, they have found no correlation between social shares and people actually reading the content.
UpWorthy and BuzzFeed also tracked their site data and found that users would share a page after only spending three and a half minutes on it, showing that people either read the page completely or not at all.
