After lobbying the British Council to build a wheelchair ramp, Clare Lally didn’t expect this £40,000 monstrosity. Instead of building something practical the council built something out of a ‘SAW’ movie.
The ramp attached to her council appointed home was needed for her wheelchair bound 7-year-old daughter to get up three flights of stairs to the front door. The 10-level ramp winds its way for 60 metres up to the door, fully encapsulating what used to be the garden. Local youths have now started using the bizarre ramp for skateboarding.
The council that built the £40,000 ramp in front of the £95,000 house, said that due to building regulations this was the only option.
