When a will is announced, random people come out of the woodwork claiming to be a long lost relative or a child from an illicit affair. Two women have come forward alleging to be the love-children of Nelson Mandela. They claim to be fathered by Mandela while he was married to his first wife, Evelyn Mase.
Representatives of the women in question, Onica Mothoa and Mpho Pule, have contacted one of the attorneys that deals with matters regarding Mandela’s will, Michael Katz. The two women say they aren’t interested in money but want recognition from Mandela’s estate. His estate has been provisionally valued at about R46 million.
The women’s representatives are applying for DNA testing to be done to resolve the claims.
