With more drones coming onto the market, TIME Magazine might have found the complete package in the DJI Phantom 2 Vision. Almost no tinkering is needed to get this model in the air, and will have even the most amateur of pilots shooting 1080p HD film from the sky in no time.
Normally when a drone is labeled on the box as “Ready To Fly” that’s only half true. The Phantom 2 is an exception and it takes only a couple of minutes to get airborne.
The Phantom 2 comes with a couple of nifty features. It has an internal GPS system that helps with stabilization, auto-pilot landing, and returns automatically to its take-off point when it goes out of range. There’s already a decent camera attached which shoots 14 megapixel stills and records 1080p videos from a 140-degree wide angle view lens with f/2.8 aperture.
The camera is connected via WiFi to a mobile app on your smart phone where it live streams the footage taken by the drone, and allows you to adjust the camera rotation. By all standards a pretty complete package to get photographers and geeks alike to nod in appreciation.
