Every new year comes with new possibilities. And with the rafts of societal, economic and social changes that happened in 2013, this year absolutely reeks with possibility.
1) Cannabis Capitalist
This time last year, ArcView Group – a network of investors focused on the weed industry – had only 25 members. Now, they’ve got around 120 really, really rich members.
“Everything changed when Washington and Colorado passed legalization in 2012,” says CEO Troy Dayton, “but it didn’t really, really change until last week.” He is, of course, referring to the fact that from the beginning of this month, adults in the US state of Colorado can walk into any registered store and just buy dope for funsies.
2) Insta-Driver
With companies like Uber, Lyft and Sidecar, anyone can be a cabbie. It’s a lot less dodgy than sticking a light on your car roof and meandering through long Street, and it will probably pay better, too.
3) Google Glass model
No one managed to make Google glass sexy. It offered us everything we could ever want, but by Jove we were just never going to buy one. It was just far too weird.
In any case, Google will be unveiling a new set this year, and God knows they’ll need someone beautiful to sex-up the gadget and make it more appealing. Could it be you?
