And if the mannequins in Venezuela are anything to go by, they place a significant amount of importance on the Dolly Parton effect.
Mannequins with minuscule waists, sloping hips and colossal breasts can be seen in stores across the plastic surgery-obsessed country.
Women’s rights groups are up in arms about the new mannequins, who they claim are distorting women’s body images, and placing undue pressure on them to get plastic surgery.
They may have a point there.
