Sweet Mary mother of Jesus – this one is a shocker. Apple’s App Store had to pull a Barbie-inspired plastic surgery app off their digital shelves this week, because it was so obviously, clearly, unambiguously and definitely wrong.
The app, which was rated for children 9 and under guided players through a digital operating room where they would learn how to use different tools, before performing an operation on an “unlucky girl” who was too fat.
These steps include injecting anesthetic, making incisions with a scalpel and suctioning out fat with a pump.
The game’s description in the store sends chills down the spine, and brings a palm to the face:
This unfortunate girl has so much extra weight that no diet can help her. In our clinic she can go through a surgery called liposuction that will make her slim and beautiful. We’ll need to make small cuts on problem areas and suck out the extra fat. Will you operate her, doctor?
The developer and Apple did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
