The CAR has been ravaged by war for some time now, but the latest reports of cannibilism in the area are totally unprecedented.

Clashes between Christian and Muslim citizens have recently turned very bloody, and one man, Ouandja Magloire sought revenge in his own unique way.

Magloire, who calls himself ‘Mad Dog’ was in a Christian mob who attacked an anonymous Muslim in the capital, Bangui. He said he had been “angry” because Muslims had come into his house, killed his pregnant wife and his sister-in-law before slashing her baby in half.

‘Mad Dog’ told the BBC’s Paul Wood he had seen his victim sitting on a minibus and decided to follow him. After following the bus for a while, he had amassed a crowd of at least 20 others, who were all bent on murdering the muslim.

Video footage obtained by the BBC show ‘Mad Dog’ eating off chunks of flesh from the victim’s leg, after he had been stabbed and burned alive.

Like most conflict ridden countries in Africa, the CAR has huge deposits of gold, diamonds and other minerals. But sadly, it has seen a succession of coups and rebellions since independence from France in 1960, leaving most of its people living in poverty.
