Marius Coutaud, 25, met Sisanda Qwabe, 26, at the Charles de Gualle Airport in Paris in 2010. This would set off a chain reaction of events that would eventually culminate in a romantic cultural crossover.
Qwabe was born and raised in KwaNgwanase, northern KZN – a far cry from Marius’ upbringing in Paris.
Despite their differences, Marius was keen on Qwabe from the very start. He told her he loved her the day after they had met, and the rest, as they say, is history.
And today, because Marius paid a lobola fee of 10 live cows as well as some cash – the two are happily married after tying the knot in a traditional Zulu wedding on 29 December.
