What happens when a former reserve bank governor and a suspended trade union boss get chatting on Twitter? Flames.
Basically, Mboweni seems convinced that Vavi is teaming up with Malema to run for candidacy under the EFF banner in the forthcoming elections. . It’s not entirely clear how he surmised that this is the case.
Mboweni began the spat by accusing Vavi of forming a coalition – and ended it by running off to dinner before the fight was done.
Castro Ngobese, a NUMSA spokesperson, soon stepped in to the ring.
