Well-known tenderpreneurs Shawn and S’bu Mpisane saw 2013 off in style when they invited hundreds of A-list guests to their magnificent home in La Lucia, Durban.

Among the guests was our much-maligned former national police commissioner, Bheki Cele and his wife Thembeka,  who were chauffeured to and from the party in limousines and BMWs.

The Mpisane’s also took the effort to fly 14 of their most special guests to Durban, where they put them up in hotels.

But before our hearts are softened by this kind gesture, let us remember that the Mpisane’s, who own the construction company that has won multimillion-Rand tenders from the eThekwini municipality, were in court last year on tax-related charges.

They sure seem to party like they’re guilty.
