On average we spend about 40 hours a week at work. That ads up to 30% of our lives! So it makes sense that you ought to choose carefully where you are going to spend that time.
Glassdoor just released its sixth annual Employees Choice Awards, and technology companies rule the list with Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and Google all making the top 10 best companies to work for. This might be due to the facts that tech companies are all vying for the same candidates, so they have an extra incentive to dole out benefits.
Glassdoor asked employees to fill out anonymous surveys measuring consideration, career opportunities, compensation, work-life balance, culture and values. The survey took place in the US, but several of the companies have employees all over the world.
With a score of 4,6 out of 5, Boston-based consulting company Bain & Co, found itself at the top of the list for a second time. It was also rated the Best Company to work for by Consultancy Magazine and ranks on top of Human Right’s Campaigns Best Places To Work For LGBTEquality 2013. What makes this company so great? For employees, work stimulation and the social culture is what makes their jobs fun.
Twitter also takes good care of their 2,000 employees around the world. They came in second and the company prides itself on offering “fascinating, intricate and important challenges every day.” With medical and dental benefits of course.
LinkedIn rounds off the top three. The 4,800 employees say that the company gives them a strong sense of work-life balance, employee benefits and a high quality of life.
