If you’re in the city of Cape Town and want to pay your respects to Madiba, here’s your chance.
Today at 17h00 the city of Cape Town will host an inter-faith service on the Grand Parade, honouring our late president.
Religious leaders from all denominations will lead prayer service and City of Cape Town Executive Mayor, Alderman Patricia de Lille, will make an address to the public.
Mourners will be allowed to lay down flowers and write messages in the book of remembrance.
The Grand Parade has a special place in history. It is where Mandela delivered his Freedom Speech just hours after his release from prison on 11 February 1990.
The Grand Parade will serve as a public space for mourners and will be open every day until further notice.
Transport
Golden Arrow, MyCiti Bys and MetroRail will offer free transport to the Grand Parade today from 12h00 to 15h00, and away from the Parade from 19h00.
