Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield paid tribute to Madiba on behalf of NASA, as he and many other astronauts took to twitter to share their condolences, and celebrate his life.
Hadfield tweeted the image below and wrote, “Cape Town, South Africa and the South Atlantic calling to forever.”
Buzz Aldrin, the second man on the moon also joined in, tweeting: “Rest in Peace Nelson Mandela. A true inspiration & role model for peace & international collaboration. We will continue to learn from him.”
The tweets from the two astronauts were also accompanied by this tweet from SpaceX founder, Elon Musk: “Rest in peace, Nelson Mandela. A man both good and great.”
