Whenever you make an online credit card purchase, the processing bank as well as the merchant in question both see your name, number and address. But what if you don’t want them to?

What if hackers break into the merchants files, and gain access to all your information?

A Boston privacy company, Abine, has introduced masked credit cards.

Rob Shavell, CEO and co-founder of Abine says,

Our vision of the future is that a large amount of people whenever they are making a transaction have the choice of whether to make that transaction private or not.

The service comes at a good time seeing that hackers were able to access 38 million Adobe users’ accounts in October, including all their personal details and encrypted credit card numbers.

Experts in the field estimate that more than 150 million personal records were breached, and not Adobe’s figure of 38 million.
