Reports indicate that a large veld fire on the boundary of the 12 Apostles Hotel is threatening to damage the building. Large swathes of smoke and the response of emergency vehicles has precipitated the closure of Victoria Road just outside Oudekraal. Multiple helicopters are attending the scene.

The flames are being fanned by extremely strong winds.

Update: As of 14h26, fire fighters had gotten between the hotel and the hotel. A drop in the wind provided fire fighters the opportunity to reduce the size of the fire, which they have done successfully. We’ll let you know when it’s out.
