It was just last week that we posted a story about how a lotto-winning couple’s relationship was destroyed – and now yet another couple is finding it hard to be happy after winning the lotto.

Les Scadding and his wife Samantha won a mouth-watering £45,5 million – but got divorced just four years later. While the reasons behind the split remained vague, it is reported that the couple had been spending extended periods of time apart. Samantha spent months refurbishing the couple’s £2 million villa in Barbados while Mr Scadding remained at their home in Gwent.

Friends of Samantha said that she was looking to make a new start, and had lost weight and changed her appearance significantly while in Barbados. Meanwhile, Les was content to stay in Britain and take over his local football club, Newport County. A source close to the couple noted that:

The money changed Sam. She spent a lot of time staying in plush hotels in London as well as Barbados. Les was happy just to fly out for shorter holidays there with her. Les was never materialistic, but Sam has a passion for diamonds – she drips in them.

Les and Samantha are now the third successive couple to have split since winning the Euromillions lottery.
