I’m not talking about buying groceries online. I’m talking about you getting the exact amount of fresh ingredients needed to make amazing meals for the week, plus the recipes, delivered to your door every week.
Think about that for a second. Think about how it kills you every day, having to stop by Woolies to get the ingredients for tonight’s dinner. And you only use a few of those ingredients and the rest go to waste, right? I’ve been using these guys – dailydish.co.za – for two weeks now. They only use the highest quality ingredients and only give you what you need. Now because they buy in bulk, it means the cost per ingredient (say, 2 carrots for your one meal) comes down. So on average, depending which menu you choose, it ends up working out to around R40 – R50 per head, per meal – cost to you. DELIVERED.TO.YOUR.DOOR.

HOW IT WORKS
So you choose which menu you want (classic, low-carb or veggie – see here), which comprises of four dishes for the week, for either two people or four people. I chose the menu that feeds four people each meal, as we enjoy leftovers the next day to snack on (or office lunch). The idea of only delivering ingredients is smart, as any more would probably go to waste. Invariably you spend one night of the week eating in a restaurant or at some crap event anyway, and the weekend you’re out and about or eating junk food.
Whilst the menu types stay the same (classic, low-carb or veggie) the actual recipes change all the time. So you don’t have to worry about getting bored.
The ingredients arrive on a Monday in beautiful packaging, with easy-to-understand menus for each meal. The only ingredients they expect you to have is olive oil, salt and pepper. Fair enough.
FIRST HAND
We’ve cooked a number of meals now and they are really drool-worthy. I’m talking stuff you could EASILY serve at a dinner party. And what’s more you get the keep the recipes! They don’t care that you have the recipes, because the big deal about this whole episode is having these top-quality ingredients delivered to your door every week, so you can focus on living the holiday. Thats what it’s all about, right?
What’s more I think I’m actually saving money doing it this way, as I’d definitely spend more on too much food that goes off anyway.
The website is very comprehensive and, once you’ve signed up, you can control your subscription with the easy-to-use pause/resume button.
You can try it out for just a week if you like.
No I’m not kidding.
Off you go.
