Don’t you just hate it when people use their cellphones to make calls? You’re not alone. A new study by Mobility 24 shows that voice calls are in decline, especially amongst the youngsters.
Apparently, people between the ages of 19 to 24 would rather use their fingers than their voices. The number of calls decreased by 10% this year, while data use increased from 17% to 24%.
But they’re not alone. From 2010, the amount spent on voice calls declined by 77% across all age groups. Arthur Goldstuck, the managing director of World Wide Worx, says that the shift from voice calls to data will continue up the generational ladder in the upcoming years.
Luckily, mobile providers have picked up on the trend and are responding accordingly. In SA the average price per megabyte has come down by 16%.
Hear that mom?
