Lawyer’s for Czech businessman Radovan Krejcir (or, as some like to call him, “the one man crime wave that blew into South Africa”), released a medical report that allegedly supports Krejcir’s claims that police officers arrested and tortured him.
The gangster has been outspoken about his love for South Africa, but apparently the feeling is not mutual. Krejcir claims that police officers arrested him and took him to a rural area on Friday night. Once there, they suffocated him with a plastic bag and ‘electrocuted’ him with a Taser gun.
South African police, under the leadership of police chief Riah Phiyega, considered it a coup when they arrested Krejcir on charges of kidnapping and attempted murder relating to an assault matter in June.
The Czech fugitive’s lawyer Ulrich Roux says Krejcir was shocked with a Taser gun more than 50 times and made the following statement:
“Radovan was examined by two doctors yesterday at the holding cells where he is being detained. They conducted a physical examination and then they drew blood and upon the blood results being obtained this morning it was evident his body has suffered severe muscle trauma.”
Police watch dog IPID is now investigating the claims made by Krejcir after opening a case against the police.
And now it seems he might be heading off to a medical facility. Of course.
Krejcir and his associate are set to appear in the Alberton Magistrates Court today. We’ll keep you up to date with the latest news on this case as it breaks.
UPDATE: He has won his bid to go to hospital:
JOHANNESBURG – The South Gauteng High Court has ordered that Czech businessman Radovan Krejcir be taken to a private hospital to receive urgent medical treatment.
Krejcir’s lawyers approached the court late on Sunday night claiming he could suffer organ failure if not treated.
The Czech fugitive was arrested on Friday evening on charges of attempted murder and kidnapping relating to an incident in June.
His lawyers claim he was tortured by the police after he was arrested.
