India’s Golden Triangle is a popular tourist circuit which includes a visit to Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur. This well-travelled route hosts many of India’s great cultural gems, most notably the Taj Mahal. It will give the traveller a taste of the magical, unforgettable, indescribable experience that is India with all its fabulous ancient temples, palaces, bazaars and culinary delights.
The Golden Triangle is so called because of the triangular shape formed by the locations of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur on a map. The circuit is about 1000 kilometres by road. Your adventure on the mighty Indian subcontinent begins in Delhi, one of the oldest cities on earth, where your senses will be overloaded by a mind blowing influx of noise, smells, and crowds. Just wandering around the city amongst the street vendors, markets and crowds of pedestrians will be an eye-opening experience in itself. But it’s worth checking out Old Delhi, the Red Fort, and Jamu Masjid, a large, imposing mosque with a tower you can climb that affords you incredible sights of the city. The big attraction in Agra is the exquisite Taj Mahal, and the nearby Agra Fort. Spend a couple of hours walking quietly through the gardens surrounding this majestic monument to love, and trace your fingers along its white marble walls, imagining a time many hundreds of years ago when Shah Jehan built this edifice as testament to his undying love for his wife. Finally, head off into the deserts of Rajasthan for a visit to Jaipur, known as the “pink city” due to its distinctly coloured buildings. Put on your walking shoes and traipse up the hill to the imposing Amber Fort, or alternatively, take an Elephant ride to the top. Be dazzled on a sightseeing tour that will whisk you around this fascinating city with temples, palaces, fortresses, monuments, gardens and bazaars.
