As you may have noticed we have adopted the knit one purl one approach with our Betflash editorials. This means that one week will give you our predictions and the next week we will simply provide you with a look at the sporting action coming up over the weekend, allowing you to make your own predictions. After all, it is your money so you can make up your own mind.
Let’s take a look at what is on offer through the 2oceansvibe Multiple this weekend.
First off there are two international rugby matches:
France vs South Africa
Scotland vs Australia
France take on The Boks at Stade de France, kick off is 22:00 our time. A nice late kick off so tell the wives or girlfriends today. Don’t leave it any longer! The team to face France is looking pretty strong as Beast, Etzebeth and Bismarck all return to the starting line up. Morne Steyn also returns in the number 10 jersey whilst Coenie Oosthuizen gets his first start after 13 appearances from the bench as he replaces the injured Frans Malherbe. Interesting facts (to be used to impress your mates at the pub whilst watching): 10 players have been selected for every Test in 2013. Beast, Etzebeth, Steyn, le Roux, de Villiers, Habana, Pienaar, Oosthuizen, Strauss and Lambie. Oh and this match against France marks 100 years of Springbok Test Match rugby against France.
Given the performance of Scotland last weekend against the Boks and the recent form of Australia we really don’t think there will be any huge surprises here. HOWEVER. There is a slight twist. Six of the Aussies have been banned from taking part in this weekend’s match because they apparently had a piss up last week prior to their clash against Ireland. According to coach McKenzie “a group of players made the decision to stay out late and consume inappropriate levels of alcohol.” Typical. Regardless of the outcome it does give us a chance to hear the Scottish rugby anthem again. This is what happened last weekend against The Boks, pretty special stuff.
There are also two epic Premier League games this weekend:
Everton vs Liverpool
Manchester City vs Spurs
The Merseyside Derby. There are few derbies more special than this one. It is the longest currently running top-flight derby in England and always delivers a completely insane atmosphere. It is referred to as “The most ill-disciplined and explosive fixture in the Premier League.” Nice! This time around Everton are hosting Liverpool and it really does promise to be a cracker given the current perforce of both teams. In May this year however, the 0 – 0 result was somewhat of an anti-climax. Here’s hoping we see some more goals, a few cards and maybe some handbags.
The second match is also rather large. Manchester City host Spurs, who are only 1-point ahead of them on the log. Of the 134 times these two teams have played each other in the league, Spurs have won 52 whilst Manchester City have won 50 (Fun fact). Both teams are coming off a loss and it really is tough to pick a winner here. That is why we are not going to and are leaving it up to you.
The last match of this weekend’s preview is:
Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga
Another massive match up as Bayern travel away to Signal Iduna Park to face Dortmund in a replay of this years Champions League Final. Another fun fact for you: A few months after their victory in the Champions League Final, Bayern lost to Dortmund in the German Super Cup 4 -2. Since then however, Bayern have not lost a single match in 22 games in all competitions. Bayern are top of the Bundesliga table, 4 points clear of Dortmund. For all our German football fans, here is a little Historical Mashup of Bayern defeating Dortmund.
It really is a packed weekend of sports, not to mention that the SA Open Golf also kicks off today. Outside bet for this one? We reckon a young lad by the name of Michael Hollick may just be somewhere near the top of the leaderboard come Sunday. Use it, don’t use it.
If you keen to have a look at the range of odds on offer this week then check them out here. This weekend they are ranging from 8 – 1 to 500 – 1. There really is no excuse.
