Ag shame. After going through the effort of buying pirated copies of ‘Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom’ in the backstreets of Joburg, it has now been revealed that the DVDs don’t feature the actual movie.
The Southern African Federation Against Copyright Theft (SAFACT) released a statement, reporting that the movie on the DVDs is a 1994 documentary, Madiba The Life and Times of Nelson Mandela with artwork from the 2013 MANDELA film.
Anant Singh, producer of MANDELA, spoke out against piracy:
People are being duped into believing what the pirates have released into the market is the actual film. This should be a lesson for the public not to buy pirated films.
I guess that would that’s a ‘no’ to asking for your money back?
