It seems appropriate that these images should emerge now, what with a full-length feature film about JFK nearing release. Captured just a few minutes before, and then hours after the assassination, they allow us a glimpse into the reality of the event.
These colour photographs have been in storage for 45 years now – captured by the father of Sonia King, who discovered them in the garage. She was just 10 when her father snapped the sun-splashed scene in Dealey Plaza, and now more than five decades later she has had the opportunity to revisit the day that is etched in American history.
