Last week we gave you an overview of the weekend’s sporting action but steered away from giving you our picks and predictions. This weekend we are going to make some calls and hope that you guys take our advice. It’s only a few bucks and it really does make the weekend’s action even more exciting!
This weekend’s multiple includes 3 rugby internationals and 2 international football games.
Rugby Internationals:
England vs New Zealand
Ireland vs Australia
Scotland vs South Africa
Football Internationals:
Ukraine vs France
Italy vs Germany
Our thoughts are as follows –
The North vs South debate continues!
Let’s face it, Australia just missed out on the wooden spoon in The Rugby Championships and they are side that haven’t looked great at all of late but they just lost to England 2 weeks ago. They were leading at half time and really looked as though they were going to pull off an “upset.” It wasn’t to be. This weekend they face Ireland at Lansdowne Road and the thinking is that Ireland will be able to do what England did. Sneak a win. Just. We picking the home side here.
The other two games are probably easier to pick. New Zealand taking on England at Twickenham, a cracker of a game! Let us not forget the last time these teams faced each other England came out victorious 38 – 21. A result which must still be irritating the Kiwis. These weekend however, we can’t see England putting up the same performance. New Zealand are a great team, they are playing consistent rugby at the moment and this match will be just another marker they will be looking to lay down for the 2015 World Cup. Dan Carter’s 100th cap will surely be a winning won. Kiwis to win.
The Springboks looked by far the better team last weekend against Wales, who happen to be back to back 6 nations champions. There is little doubt that this weekend’s match against Scotland will yield the same conclusion. South Africa are playing some special rugby at the moment and the depth of the squad is very impressive. The fact that Bakkies is part of the run on XV must be scaring the shit of the Scots, not that Flo and Alberts wouldn’t have done that already but it is a powerhouse side that should give the Scots a decent hiding. Boks for the win!
In the football, Ukraine are taking on France in a World Cup qualifier whilst there is a humdinger of a friendly as Italy host Germany.
First up, Ukraine host France. Ukraine have lost only 1 of their 10 qualifying games so far and are currently second in Group H, 1-point behind unbeaten England. France have also only lost 1 match out their 8 but France have always been an unpredictable side, especially when it comes to World Cups. They tend to go a little loco. We hoping for more of the same this weekend. After all, we don’t assume Ukraine to be the most accommodating place in the world. The home side for the win here!
Italy vs Germany. A friendly but not really.
Germany are without Miroslav Klose however Mesut Ozil has been made available for this weekend’s friendly in Milan. Italy who have also already qualified for 2014 World Cup have added a few new faces to their squad for the match. It is extra tough to call this one as Itlay have also called up previously banned Domenico Criscito for his alleged role in match fixing. He has been cleared on all charges. Ya ya. Anyways, we are backing the second best team in the world here. Germany to win.
So, if you think we know what we taking about. (That would be silly). Why not get involved? The above multiple is offering 15 – 1. R100 makes you R1500. Not all bad!
