This is something straight out of the Daily Sun. Bethany Arceneaux, 29, was kidnapped last Wednesday afternoon by her ex-boyfriend (and father of her son), Scott Thomas. Happily, her family was so determined to see her safe and sound that they executed a dangerous rescue mission by themselves.
Bethany was captured by her enraged ex-lover outside of their son’s daycare centre, and shoved into his car. A witness to the abduction, Derrimetrie Robinson, said she saw Arceneaux honking the car horn for help in parking lot, as Thomas stormed in and attacked her. When Robinson rushed over to the car, Arceneaux begged the woman to take her son – which she was able to do before Thomas sped away.
Her concerned family members started putting up posters after she had been missing for a day. All they had to go on was Thomas’ abandoned car, which was found near a field.
“Based off the information officers received at the day care about the way the victim was confronted by Thomas, we believe she may be in a situation where she could be harmed,” said Cpl. Paul Mouton after the incident.
On Friday, as police and family members searched near Thomas’ abandoned car, witnesses gave the family members a tip-off about a vacant house in a nearby field. This prompted family members and nieghbours to hop on four-wheelers and speed towards the house, where they heard screams coming through the window.
As they barged in the door, Thomas began stabbing Arceneaux violently. But before he could do more damage, an armed family member shot him three times, killing him instantly. Bethany was safely discharged from hospital this week and is now reunited with her son.
What’s nice is that no family members will be charged for the killing of Thomas. A local ‘defense of others’ law says homicide can be justified if someone’s life is in danger.
Go team Arceneaux!
