Local film maker, Ben Jay Crossman got in touch with us recently to share his video series, titled ‘The Streets Of Fietas’. The series is a stark insight into the lives of the residents of one of Johannesburg’s poorest suburbs, as they battle drug addiction. This is part two of three.
The description for the second episode in the series reads as follows:
alone but together the people of fietas struggle through poverty and more than often turn to drugs and theft sadly ending in jail. in jail they are exposed to extreme bouts of violence, gangs, rape and even harder drugs.
these kids leave school early then have children of their own really young, unable to support them
and properly school them a viscous domino effect perpetuates.
Enjoy.
