News of Elon Musk’s plans to completely revolutionise personal transportation with the ‘Hyperloop’ emerged some months ago, but now it’s gaining speed as Musk’s dream slowly materialises. Now, the group that is going to develop the idea has stepped forward with an official name: Hyperloop Transportation Technologies Inc. But you won’t believe the other names that were floating around…

The JumpStartFund helped come up with a name for the project by hosting a democratic voting process on the project’s website. And like any democratic voting system, you have to include the opinions of the idiotic, the clueless and the braindead. Some of the names that were suggested were just plain silly – ‘Tube X’ sounds distinctly like a porn-streaming site. There was also ‘Loopola’ which brings to mind some sort of rickety fairground ride. And then there’s the ‘ScramTram’ which is just utter nonsense.

Nobody who is working on this project is getting paid. So  everyone who is working on this project believes that it’s possibility to make this a reality.

Strong words – let’s hope Metro Rail are listening.
