Apparently October 29 is National Cat Day in the United States. Not being Americans, it’s understandable that no one here knows, or indeed cares. But still, National Cat Day is worth remarking on because yesterday, Uber hand delivered kittens for people to play with if they lived in New York, San Francisco, or Seattle.
Uber partnered up with cat-lovin’ meme site CheezBurger to become an on-demand kitten service for a day. People were able to reserve kittens for 15 minutes at a time at $20 a pop. Proceeds were donated to local animal shelters. Customers could also adopt the kitten if they felt they really wanted to. (Inevitable.)
But it doesn’t stop there! The cats were also delivered with cupcakes, and an “Uberffic Cat Pack”. We don’t know what was in the cat packs.
“Demand for kittens will be very high and availability very limited,” Uber warned.
(Uber is also in South Africa! Not delivering kittens but, you know, delivering people. Personally. Read more about them here.)
