Multi-award winning rapper, Khuli Chana, became a victim of police violence early this morning, when SAPS fired multiple shots at his driver window. Chana was on his way to meet a DJ at the New Road Caltex garage for a gig in Pretoria when he was shot at from an unmarked police vehicle.
As Chana exited the petrol station, he drove around an unmarked VW Combi occupied by two plain-clothes police, and two uniformed police. At this point, six shots were fired at the passenger door of Chana’s vehicle from the police vehicle. Police claim that they were firing warning shots, as they believed Chana’s vehicle to have been involved in a recent kidnapping.
Refiloe Ramogase, Chana’s manager insisted that these cops were not aiming for the boot or the tyres, they were shooting to kill.
The rapper sustained two minor injuries in the incident. His arm was injured after a bullet was lodged in one of his fingers (ouch!), while one other bullet went through the back seat, broke into shrapnel and penetrated his back. Yassus.
Khuli Chana is now pressing charges of attempted murder – and we wish him the best of luck.
Well done, SAPS, you clowns.
