Former first-class South African cricketer, Darryn Randall, has died after he was struck on the head by a cricket ball. Randall, 32, was hit on the side of the head before he collapsed. He was batting at the time – but it is hasn’t been made clear whether or not he was wearing a helmet.
A wicket-keeper batsman, he played four first-class games for the Border province in 2009.
Haroon Lorgat, Cricket South Africa chief executive, expressed the federation’s condolences and said it would be offering counseling to those involved in the match. Randall passed away this Sunday at a hospital in the town of Alice in the Eastern Cape.
We too would like to send our condolences to Randall’s friends and family.
